      Age of Chivalry Toe-to-Toe is the 2nd major update to the first person online medieval combat game "Age of Chivalry" since being released on steam and it throws the player into the fictional world of Agatha where the Agathian Knights and the Mason Order are in a blood feud and neither side will yield. In true medieval fashion players can unleash detestation upon their foes with a variety of vicious medieval weapons including mighty battle axes, curved longbows, massive siege weapons and much more. Supporting up to 32 players online in objective based combat, Age of Chivalry, Toe-to-Toe is an experience no medieval or FPS fan can pass up.  


   This update to the game focuses heavily on the core combat system, swings come faster, parries are more effective and both reflexes and strategy play an important role in defeating your opponent. Reach, angles and evasion are the tools each player must fight to use to their advantage in a flurry of exchanges and transitions that have a constant smooth and violent flow. Combat isn't about trading blows or sprinting around, anymore. It's about controlling distance, timing, countering, and maneuvering to ensure your blade lands flush, while also ensuring your opponent's advances do nothing but work to your advantage in tiring him out. Combine this with the new environments and focus back on objective based play being introduced and you have a whole new set of skills and reactions to master if you want to be at the top of the scoreboard in this version.


    Mighty warrior, you have fought many battles and  wars with me as your guide through these troubled times, but a war is coming, a war that shall bring great peril to our shores and our people. You have always stood above the others, many a time I have seen you carving a vicious bloody path through the enemy so violently that you surely have turned the tide of battle for us more than once. But a new age is coming, an age where strength and bravery is no longer enough to attain true glory on the battlefield. You must choose wisely my friend how you develop your skills on the field, will you be a merciless berserker that unleashes his rage on his opponents in a flurry of powerful strikes while leaving himself open? Or shall you be the swift and agile counter attacker who patiently waits for his opening... Either way my lord, other warriors will make decisions as well and their fighting style will force you to adapt your own and overcome your opponents with a mixture of defensive maneuvers and offensive onslaughts that push your opponent to the brink.


This age shall bring an end to the warriors of old, but a rise to those who can truly conquer the new combat styles that are emerging, young warrior, many a times have I stood by you when it looked as though all was lost, and today I stand beside you still, but I stand beside you with a warning. These are dark times, there is much glory to be had but never before has it taken so well rounded a hero to overcome the odds of battle. Fight smart, fight hard and kill without mercy. My lord, take up your sword and trample all that oppose us, for this is the Age of Chivalry and only the valiant shall survive!


Brief Change Log

- New movement system dubbed "Toe2Toe" seeks to eliminate hit and run combat and bring the action in close
- Heavy animation alignment and scripting rewrites that speed up the pace of combat and reduce waiting times in-between actions to smoothen transitions and combat actions
- Added enhanced pushback to weapon attacks, promotes use of reach
- Improved parry and shieldblocking detection code
- Enhanced bonus for successful parry or block
- Standardized all parry animations to 1 second, 0.85 seconds will be active, meaning there is a window to strike an opponent who is parry spamming
- 3 new maps:
   - aoc_galadan - Snowy campaign map that is the prelude to aoc_siege
   - aoc_meleefields - Simple team deathmatch map
   - aoc_fightpub - Team deathmatch with a twist, fists only in the pub!
- "Injured effect" - Briefly slowed to 50% movement speed after being struck (includes "stopping power" for projectiles)
- Added Impact effects - Camera will jerk and screen will smear in blood when struck
- New first person death cam - Experience death like never before, slam into the ground or be battered and thrashed all the way down a hill
- Added unique hand models for each class
- Full HDR support on most maps (excludes battleground and galadan)
- Massive amounts of readjustments to previous maps, introduced many new objectives and improved gameflow, reduced movement distances
- Points for completing and/or defending objectives
- Added "Objective Indicators" that toggle on and off with default "b" and display the location, distance and task required to complete an objective
- Over 300 new statistics being tracked and incoming (a few days) support for them to be displayed via steam community
- 25 new Achievements
- New records system, lets you track your best rounds, similar to TF2
- Introduced aoc_options menu that allows you to customize performance and gameplay options (ex. "multi-core", "cheap water", "disable minimap" etc...)
- Improved headsmashes to only occur when a blunt weapon deals more than 30 damage OVER what is required to kill a player, to the head.
- Headsmashes now spawn bloody chunks including eyeballs and ears
- All projectiles including thrown weapons, arrows and catapults now "hiss" by your ear on near misses
- Added information on playerclass menu about weapon stats
- Streamlined code, reduced polycounts in models, created more LODs for models, optimized maps, improved performance
- Fixed instances of "mega-lag" that occurred on theshore and after breaking the statue on sorrow etc...
- Added much stronger code support for parries, deflections, attacks and the animation transitions to address issues of animations not displaying
- Increased oilpot damage to an actually useful amount
- Weapon damage, speed, and range adjustments for balance.
- Improved map ambiance
- Fixed players floating while lit on fire
- Fixed pushable objectives sometimes "ghost moving" on their own
- Fixed flags sometimes bugging out and raising themselves
- Numerous other bugfixes, adjustments and tweaks.

   The latest update to the first person online medieval combat game Age of Chivalry brings the player into a new, immersive battlefield experience where he must rely on reflexes, tactics and teamwork to survive. As a direct result from fan feedback to a poll run during the media releases for last update, this update to the game will introduce a new movement system that will redefine the tactics and actions players make on the battlefield and forces players to think critically about how to approach each opponent. Players will see this movement system come into play during combat situations and it will allow for much more fluid and reflex oriented exchanges of combat that will promote players standing toe to toe and facing off against each other in a whirlwind of steel that will decide the victor.



   The main focus in this update has been on the core combat system, players will immediately notice the faster pace and the incredible smoothness of combat and combat transitions in which they will be able to quickly and violently dispatch of any who stand against them. Hundreds of hours of work has gone into fine tuning the animations timing and the code supporting the combat system and now strikes, parries, blocks and evasion maneuvers all come together in a way that makes the combat feel smooth and shreds the former “clunky-ness” of old. The adjustments to the combat system also include enhanced pushback that will enable players to make use of the reach of their weapons to the fullest extent, many have likened the experience to boxing, in that the fighter with the longer reach attempts to keep distance and push his opponent away with every massive strike while the shorter reach weapons force players to try to work their way inside and deliver furious blows to their opponent from close range. Never before has parrying, blocking and evasion played so important a role in combat, players that previously had success mindlessly attacking will find themselves outmatched against a clever and more tactical fighter that uses his entire combat arsenal to his advantage. Archers fear not, for you have also gained a most valuable tool in this latest installment, projectiles will now have “stopping power” and successful shots will slow your opponent momentarily allowing you more time to punish him from afar!


   Your first taste of battle in Age of Chivalry, Toe-to-Toe may yield some surprises to you, as your enemy blows now slam into the screen and cloud your vision in your own blood, striking fear into men that only the most determined can subdue. Should you be so unfortunate as to fall in battle you shall see the last moments of your life through your own eyes as the battle rages on around you. The new first person death cam allows players to experience crushing defeat as they are slain and then helpless to watch themselves crumple to the ground or thrashed and sprawled down a hill. Now each model has its own personal hand models and you can feel the weight of your armour as a knight thrusting your sword into your lightly armoured foe, or feel the crispness of handling a bow with sleek leather guards and bare hands. The new first person hand models add to the experience by giving each character more personality.


   Players in Age of Chivalry, Toe-to-Toe will not only have new combat experiences to deal with but also they will fight on battlefields much altered. Whether it be the new destructible darkforest, the cold and bitter harshness of siege, the violent distance closing changes of theshore, the tactical and push advances of overlook and firecrag, or the new frozen plains of galadan, one thing is for sure, players will be happy to find all of our maps not only having gameflow restructured but also the visual improvements including full HDR support* and many brand new models that allow players to truly feel connected to their battlefield and gaming experience. New map ambiance is sure to have more than a few players jump in alarm when they are called for dinner, as they snap back into reality and realize they are not truly on the fields of battle**. Battlefields are no longer simply environments upon which you happen to encounter the enemy but now become important strongholds as players are forced to fight over the objectives to attain true glory. Completing and defending objectives will now give players huge bonus points that will lead them to the top of the scoreboard. Learn and master your battlefield navigation skills with Age of Chivalry’s new “objective indicator” system bringing your overall understanding of the game to a new level. With the new hovering objective markers that tell you the location, distance and method of achieving the current objective(s) players will have a much easier time navigating the battlefield and engaging in combat in unique environmental situations and massive numbers.


   No point in crushing all your enemies without attaining any glory you say? Well how about over 300 new Statistics to be displayed on the steam community that will allow you to track your progress, playtime, K-D Ratio and more as you grow and develop your skills. Additionally display your badges of honour with 25 new achievements added in this release that will delight players who are up for a challenge. Had an epic ingame experience, wondering if it was your best round yet? With our new “Records system” (similar to TF2) you will be informed everytime you break a new record for that life, be it total kills in a round, most damage, most assists, longest life, most points etc. We even throw you a bone and show you when you came pretty close too, just to rub it in that you’re not quite good enough. And for the players who like a custom experience, we have now also included an aoc options menu that will enable you to adjust specific game options such as whether you’d like to enable sticky projectiles, the gore level and other performance or preference options (disabling the mini-map etc.).


   See the devastation you inflict on your foes as you shatter their heads into nothing more than chunks of bloody mess, feel the rush of combat as brutal medieval weaponry slams into your screen and staggers you backwards, hear the hiss of arrows pelting the air and pin-cushioning your allies around you, smell the odor of your own sweat as the intensity of battle keeps you on the edge of your seat and taste glorious victory as your team triumphs over the enemy in an epic bloodbath. No solider shall make it out of this war unscathed, but perhaps if your will is strong enough and your heart brave enough, you shall make a name for yourself with a glorious death. Go warrior, slay the enemy and carve your name into the heavens, this is the Age of Chivalry and you are about to go TOE TO TOE!

Hey Guys, just wanted to let you know about the Official Age of Chivalry League and how its progressing. Right now we have over 150 registered members and 26 completed wars and we're just getting started! Some Current News:

An epic tie for 1st place, Vanquish and Stainless Steel are both undefeated after dispatching 4 opponents a piece! No doubt some blood will be shed here soon as these two giants attempt to establish themselves as the leading clan in Age of Chivalry.

The league site has been updated lately and will continue to be updated with more and more features. Currently you can do plenty of things, see all scheduled matches, check out the history and member list of any clan, check the rules for official matches, apply to join a clan, Create your own clan,  send messages, challenge other clans, trashtalk, view a recording of any of the previously fought battles and a ton more! A 1v1 Dueling League and individual stats tracking for clanwars and duels are coming down the pipeline next, so make sure you get yourself and your friends signed up so you don't miss some great events!
